About Wayne Richardson
Prior to co-founding Richardson Sport, I worked part-time for many years as a Fitness Coach with Manchester City, Leeds United, Sheffield United, Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Doncaster Rovers. I also worked at many non-league football clubs – Droylsden, Stalybridge Celtic, Hyde United, Radcliffe Borough, Salford City, and Bradford Park Avenue. This has led to me working with some of the top names in football, past and present, right up to the stars and up-and-coming players of today.
My break came whist I was coaching at Manchester City Football Club in 1998, when Joe Royle was the Manager. Mr Royle turned to me and said: “You can do the warm-up Wayne the lads like you”.
Away from football, my role in professional sport has taken me all over the world. In 1999, 2002 and 2003, I supported the England Lacrosse teams at the World Lacrosse Games in Australia and the United States of America, as their Fitness Coach.
Alongside these part-time roles, it was my ‘day job’ where I honed my mentoring skills, developing a passion for working with young people. I worked in Education as a Mentor at Cheadle & Marple College, where I helped teens with all manner of issues. Later, I progressed into Youth Service work, undertaking roles and assignments for the Greater Manchester Police. I worked with young offenders, the Home Office and Manchester City Council to activate projects that sought to affect the negative impacts of Gang crime.
These days I am the Performance Director and owner of Richardson Sport. My role provides me with the opportunity to work with youth, academy and professional athletes from a variety of sports, to which I am truly committed – some might say slightly obsessed! I thrive on developing and executing programmes which support both athletic and personal development, to ensure athletes are given the best possible opportunity to fulfil their potential and succeed in their chosen field.

I also ensure that the day-to-day business administration is up to speed.
